You don't have to be an athlete to benefit from the positive effects that come with stretching. Most of our client's do not stretch on a daily basis or even a weekly basis. We all know that stretching improves flexibility in our joints but there is more to it than that. For example. A man or woman who works out at their local gym, who's goal is to gain muscle, but does not stretch before their workout, will not reach their muscles maximum potential. Someone who takes the time to stretch before hand, is guaranteed to benefit more. This is because a well-designed warm-up starts by increasing body heat and blood flow. Warm muscles and dilated blood vessels pull oxygen from the bloodstream more efficiently and use stored muscle fuel more effectively. As a massage therapist, it is very important to ask you client if they stretch regularly. If they do not, tell them why they should and if they take your advice, they will reap the benefits and it is little things like that, which may make you their go to massage therapist because they will appreciate the personal interest and concern that you have for them as your client.
